JC Pets cares greatly about your privacy. We therefore only process data that we need for (improving) our services and handle the information we have collected about you and your use of our services with care. We never make your data available to third parties for commercial purposes.
This privacy policy applies to the use of the website and the services provided by JC Pets. The effective date of these terms is 13/01/2022, and with the publication of a new version, the validity of all previous versions expires. Webshop software
Shopify
Our webshop is developed using software from Shopify. Personal data that you provide to us for our services is shared with this party. Shopify has access to your data to provide us with (technical) support; they will never use your data for any other purpose. Shopify is obliged, based on the agreement we have concluded with them, to take appropriate security measures. These security measures consist of the application of SSL encryption and a strong password policy. Shopify is a certified processor of credit card data. Shopify uses cookies to collect technical information regarding your use of the software; no personal data is collected and/or stored. Shopify reserves the right to share collected data within its own group to further improve services. Shopify complies with the applicable legal retention periods for (personal) data. The EU/US Privacy Shield applies; your data may be processed in the United States.
Web hosting
MijnDomein
We purchase web hosting and email services from MijnDomein. MijnDomein processes personal data on our behalf and does not use your data for its own purposes. However, this party may collect metadata about the use of the services. This is not personal data. MijnDomein has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent loss and unauthorized use of your personal data. MijnDomein is bound by confidentiality under the agreement.
Email and mailing lists
ActiveCampaign
Our website uses ActiveCampaign, a third party that handles email traffic from our website and the sending of newsletters. All confirmation emails you receive from our website and web forms are sent via ActiveCampaign servers. ActiveCampaign will never use your name and email address for its own purposes. At the bottom of every email sent automatically via our website, you will see the ‘unsubscribe’ link. If you click this, you will no longer receive emails from our website. This may seriously reduce the functionality of our website! Your personal data is securely stored. ActiveCampaign uses cookies and other internet technologies to track whether emails are opened and read. ActiveCampaign reserves the right to use your data to further improve services and, in that context, share information with third parties.

To handle (part of) the payments in our webshop, we use the Shopify platform. Shopify processes your name, address, and place of residence details, as well as your payment details such as your bank account or credit card number. Shopify has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data. Shopify reserves the right to use your data to further improve services and, in that context, share (anonymized) data with third parties. In the case of a request for deferred payment (credit facility), Shopify shares personal data and information regarding your financial position with credit rating agencies. All the above-mentioned safeguards regarding the protection of your personal data also apply to the parts of Shopify’s services for which they engage third parties. Shopify does not retain your data longer than permitted by law.
Reviews
Trustpilot
We collect reviews via the Trustpilot platform. If you leave a review via Trustpilot, you are required to provide your name, place of residence, and email address. Trustpilot shares this data with us so that we can link the review to your order. Trustpilot also publishes your name and place of residence on its own website. In some cases, Trustpilot may contact you to provide clarification on your review. If we invite you to leave a review, we share your name and email address with Trustpilot. Shipping and logistics
PostNL
If you place an order with us, it is our task to deliver your package to you. We use the services of PostNL to carry out deliveries. If PostNL engages subcontractors, PostNL will also make your data available to these parties.
DHL
If you place an order with us, it is our task to deliver your package to you. We use the services of DHL to carry out deliveries. For this purpose, it is necessary that we share your name, address, and place of residence details with DHL. DHL uses this data solely for the execution of the agreement. If DHL engages subcontractors, DHL will also make your data available to these parties.
Invoicing and accounting
Snelstart
For maintaining our administration and accounting, we use the services of Snelstart. We share your name, address, and place of residence details and details regarding your order.
This data is used for administering sales invoices. Your personal data is securely transmitted and stored. Snelstart is bound by confidentiality and will treat your data confidentially. Snelstart does not use your personal data for purposes other than those described above.
Purpose of data processing

We use your data exclusively for the purpose of our services. This means that the purpose of processing is always directly related to the assignment you provide. Data that is automatically collected by our website is processed with the aim of further improving our services. This data (for example your IP address, web browser, and operating system) is not personal data.
Cooperation with tax and criminal investigations
In some cases, JC Pets may be required by law to share your data in connection with fiscal or criminal investigations by government authorities. In such a case, we are compelled to share your data, but we will oppose this within the limits permitted by law.
Retention periods
We retain your data as long as you are a client of ours. This means that we keep your customer profile until you indicate that you no longer wish to use our services. If you inform us of this, we will also interpret this as a request to be forgotten. Based on applicable administrative obligations, we must retain invoices containing your (personal) data; we will therefore keep this data for as long as the applicable term runs. However, employees will no longer have access to your client profile and documents created in response to your assignment.
